AI findability is the discipline of getting your business mentioned, cited, and recommended by large language models. The unit of success is citation inside an answer, not ranking in a result list. It overlaps with SEO in vocabulary and almost nothing else. SEO works on rankings. AI findability works on citation patterns. SEO measures clicks. AI findability measures whether the model knows you exist when nobody asks the keyword. SEO treats your website as a destination. An AI engine reads it as a source. The shift matters because the funnel collapsed. A founder asks Claude for a brand strategist. A buyer asks ChatGPT which CRM fits a hybrid sales team. A skeptic asks Perplexity which framework actually works. None of those queries hit Google first, and the answer rarely sends them there afterwards.
